Hi to all from a new member,

I only found this site yesterday, although I’ve been shooting traditional muzzleloader for over40 years. I built a .45 cal. Kentucky Long Rifle in the early 70s. Two years ago, I was given an older CVA Hawken type or Plains type .50 cal rifle. It was an older kit that had never been assembled, so I built it and hunted deer with it last fall. I really like hunting with it.

I just returned from hunting this year with it, aborted trip early because I lost the barrel wedge somewhere. So, that’s my question. Do any members know where I can get a wedge for this rifle? Thank you.

Welcome to the forum. Check Track of the Wolf or Deer Creek Products, both are on line. I have a Kentucky in 45 that I will put together soon. Mark/WI

Hi Mark
Thanks very much for your suggestions. However, it seems Deer Creek Products is out of business. I’ve ordered from them in the past, but all the contact info I have for them (phone numbers, email and website) doesn’t go anywhere. I did order the wedge from an EBay seller, and am hoping it’s the correct one.
Wishing you the best with that .45. Take your time and you’ll have a rifle you can be proud of and will give you years of enjoyment. I built mine about 1974 or 75, and have hunted deer and black bear with it for 40 years. Just last season did I switch to a .50 cal. Hawked style.
