I'm still here and there on what my rifled flintlock will be. I've tossed up the idea of a Pedersoli Frontier in .54 or a chambers Edward Marshall .58 but I today also saw a YouTube video of a guy with a gemmer hawken and didn't know much about them.

Before I go any further, I know some people here don't like the Pedersoli's but I own one and know several others that do and they all work flawlessly so I'm not concerned with that.

The downside to the Edward Marshall is that it's possibly too authentic and the little ramrod that doesn't have a thread is a pain for me, but the biggest thing being I'm looking down the barrel of $2500ish for it by the time it's here and working.

Now to the gemmer, I do like long rifles but I love hawken rifles more! I have two caplocks and could happily have a flinter. In a perfect world I'd have a full stock flintlock hawken but that ain't happening. So what is the quality of the gemmer rifles in terms of fit and finish? Most importantly what is the quality of the lock like? Are they patent or flat faced breech? Any information on them is appreciated.
