I see M.L.rifles with the sight post ramp forward and rearward? I personally like the ramp forward. Which is correct?

That is how I like my post. I saw the building a Kibler post and noticed his sights were different than mine so I looked up Hawkin rifles and found an original Hawkin that appeared to have the ramp rearward?
Could this be something someone did later? I can't believe old Sam would have made a mistake?

My idea is to travel back in time to demonstrate a breech mounted peep sight to the Hawken brothers and how superior it is. I can’t shoot very well without one anymore! But traditional sights are more rugged, and most precision shooting was done by young people with good eyes anyway.

Iron was used, i would just make sure the dovetails are greased with an anti seize, if you ever need to get them out steel often seizes up.
