Just to make clear, this gun was sold several years ago when the owner placed the order.

I welcomeany and all comments, questions or critiques, good or bad. Any questions of what makes it early or why I choose to do what I did. Could be a valuable learning experience for everyone, including me. :v

Yep, home made sling ring. I hadn't put the forward one in yet when I took the pictures. It's made, just not on the gun when I photographed it.

Don't know enough to give a critique on architecture, but the ones I've handled and played with are for sure the work of a talanted artist.

My comment? It's beautiful like all of your work Mike. I like that caliber even though mine have smoothbores...... but I won't hold that against ya. :blah:

I have an earth-shaking question. :rotf:
No, really, I do, I was wondering is there a set position for the wooden patchbox lid? Most that I have seen are low on the stock, and this one seems higher. Is that just the discretion of the gunsmith? Or is there some H/C P/C rule?
Beautiful gun, Mike!

Yep, that one is pretty high on the buttstock. I usually try to center them on the buttplate and point them at the center of the wrist where the wrist meets the comb. Purely an attempt by me to do something a little different to hopefully set this gun apart a little bit to suggest an "early" time period.

I like the use of the "irregular" parts to represent stuff that came from other guns. Of the originals I've seen, a pretty significant portion used some measure of parts from other guns, especially if they were quality metal parts. I think it adds an extra aspect of authenticity.
