The trigger & trigger guard & lock bolt and stock design seems too be in the style of early 1900’s military design… banded barrel as well..

Firearms carried on horseback ,with the exception of military firearms , and where instant use may be required were usually carried across the front of the saddle . This caused a lot of wear on full wood stocks , with eventual breakage . the stocks were often crudely shortened with a knife , leaving the rod exposed , If you look at "Guns of the Western Indian War " by R Stephen Dorsey , you will see pictures of many guns showing this type of damage and "repair"
