Last two orders of 7/8x1” flints came in the little zip lock baggie. Labeled as “FLINT-ENG-7”. The first order I thought was a mistake and then I ordered another to have while I was waiting on the exchange for the first order. Nope. The second order of a dozen came today and they’re smaller and lesser quality than the first.

None of them are even close to 7/8x1” and none of the two dozen are even remotely close to the nice black translucent flint like the ones I received just a few months ago. They are also napped pretty poor. I guess supply is getting scarce.

I’m returning them as I was told to do but don’t want another batch of garbage.

Anyone else have an issue with their flints lately?

I always request "no humpbacks" in the notes and have always got flat flints. The price just continues to go up. Over the last few years they have gone from $2.30 to now $3.10. I got some in Oct. and they were $2.80. It is what it is, it's not like they are made in a factory, still hand made by skilled artisans.

The few I got from them two months ago, two different sizes, were all about 1/8in too small in each direction. Practically the next size smaller. Those were French ones though, so it may be a problem with the sorter and not their supplier.

I just received a dozen 5/8x3/4 black English and i requested flat top no humps in the comments on the order. The flints they sent look great but they included a note on the invoice saying “dozen packs are pre packaged and requests for hand select are available for per flint quantity” 🙄

Good news is there might be a correlation between the shortage of flints and the rise of the popularity of Flint Locks...
Its all on Jim Kibler he is the cause of the excess need of flints. HAHA I'm kidding but I am kidding but likely the cause of Kibler kits being awesome, percussion cap shortages and well heck thats about it.
