Maybe because your gun isn't cast iron? Good decision.I put bacon fat on my cast iron, and never had rust. But won’t put it on a gun

Deer in the woodsI wonder if anyone has used anchovy oil. It has many of those properties of bacon oil with even a more impressive taste. Maybe that would be going a bit far. On the other hand, it might work like whale oil. Sardine oil might work too, but without the subtle flavoring of the anchovy.
I have used it for that very purpose on a couple of guns I have obtained &/or asked to help out someone. It's a bit like toothpaste. It's a polishing substance with some grit -- very fine. I use it by rubbing on a cotton bore mop. Then back and forth to desired result. Brownells sell a proprietary product -- JB Bore Bright ultra fine bore polish. Think of these like rubbing compound and the 'grit' in JB's is even more fine than the Iosso bore paste. Others use Big 45 Frontier Metal Cleaner. Looks like a dish scrubber only not brass. You cut off a few strands and wrap around a mop or they recommend a brush and then back and forth. Says will remove rust and not bluing. I've used it but prefer a bore paste polisher. When I am happy with the result then use your favorite storage product (CLP) and then a dry patch....done. I gauge the effect with a bore-scope.Hello,
Is using Iosso bore cleaner ok to remove rust and crud that normal cleaning won't??
THANKS' for taking me to school! I had no idea it would cause rustEvery ml has their own best way, and all are the best. I would take care with hydrogen peroxide. H2O2. Water is H2O. An oxygen atom with two hydrogen atoms bound to it. Peroxide binds another oxygen atom. It’s loosely bound. That’s where he foam comes from.
to clean with it the extra oxygen atom breaks off, and the out gassing loosens crud, the extra oxygen can bind with carbon and makes it easy to break crud out.
However oxygen binds with iron and steel real well creating rust.
Use caution when using it in a barrel
It's hopeless.THANKS' for taking me to school! I had no idea it would cause rust
what do each have in common? Opinions .It's hopeless.
tell you what when moly bullets first came out for the unmentionables my rifle got clogged up with it and had horrible accuracy. I tried every cleaner known to man even acetone paint thinners etc. losso was the only cleaner that got it out. I know it means nothing to a ML maybe but it has some wicked cleaner ingredientsjust read their pimping page. seems you can use it for anything, hair gel, underarm deodorant, foot fungus, frying chicken etc.
should be safe for a muzzleloader bore. test it for us and give a first hand report!
Everybody's got opinions. A lot of them are right. A lot of them are wrong. But it's the stubbornly held and defended ones lacking any objective basis that seem to be the most resistant.what do each have in common? Opinions .
Its a light grade valve grinding compound that will clean your bore used properly. Or buy some valve grinding compound and use it. I have used both to clean difficult bores.Hello,
