Rebel: This is just a thought, but could the muzzle of the barrel be NOT square to the bore? If so, you could move that Ball by filing the muzzle square, possibly.

I only suggest this because many years ago, when my first gun was a foreign made gun with lots of problems, that was the only one I didn't have. But it was also the one problem that the older, much more experienced men in my club all asked me about when they saw the gun. Apparently, this is often the problem with foreign made guns, or at least it was. Not knowing when your gun was made, I can only suggest that you check it. Good luck.

If desired, you could simply resolder the front sight in the new location. It may be slightly off center but probably no more than an 1/8" inch. Skirmishers always replace the front sight with a taller and thicker one.

May skirmishers will also dovetail the frontsight, and once zeroed tack it in place with a drop of solder.

If you don't like to solder, or don't want to dovetail the sight yourself, a gunsmith should be able to do it for you. If it's in the budget you could also have Whiteacre replace the existing tube with one of his amazing barrels. He'll install correct sights and you're gun will be on the money. He makes a .577 bore with 3 groove progressive depth rifling that is amazinly accurate. Hoyt makes a great barrel too, and uses 7 groove rifling of uniform depth that is also
wickedly accurate.

Paul, Iron Jim. Thank you both for your suggestions. The muzzle appears to be square with the bore. I bought it new around 15 years ago. The sights appear to be where they ought to be as far as alignment goes. Personally I'd rather have the rear sight filed out than the front one to be off center. I wouldn't mind having a custom barrel but that's out of the question at this time. The barrel I have shoots mighty fine and while I'm not thrilled with the looks of the rear sight it does work. I'll just have to live with it like it is for awhile.

You are dead-on with how the bullet works. I witnessed a shootin pal in our league put 3 of those huge mortar rounds through the same hole at 50 yds. offhand. Watched through the spotting scope and saw the projectile pass through the air as a dark gray clump and pass through the target and into the berm with a huge splat. His is a Zouave. It was a loaner & up for sale at the time...told my pal if he didn't buy it I would just to keep it in the club. Continued good shooting :hatsoff: All the best, Dave

Back before they moved them all out the Texas Ranger Musem had some Musketoons that had a back none lader sight just looked like a bent (L shaped ) metal part that screwd into the org place, anyone have a idea where to get one of theses? (back tpye sights) Fred :hatsoff:
