I picked up this Navy Arms hawken at a auction. I appears to be one of the "made in USA" rifles, not made from a kit. The lock is made with Cherry Corners parts (at least some parts) and seems to work fine but the sear arm has been ground down a little too much for my liking. Does anybody have any source for Cherry Corners lock parts? I know that Navy arms ended up the tooling from Ithaca but the rifle has been out of production for some time. Maybe Navy Arms still has some old parts left? It's a great looking rifle in excellent condition.

Navy Arms is just a shell of its former self. I doubt they have any parts.

You best bet is to check eBay on a regular basis and look for parts there. In addition to Cherry Corner parts, Uberti basically copied the Cherry Corners/Ithaca lock for their Santa Fe Hawken and you could probably make a sear from a Uberti Hawken lock work for you. Again, you would need to look on eBay for Uberti Hawken parts because I don't know of a supplier that still carries them.

Another possibility is ebayer " us2015.valmo " who is the son of Navy Arms founder Val Forgett. Have dealt with him in the past and had good experiences. Met him at the Las Vegas Antique Arms show a few years ago; seems like a good guy.

Last I knew he also owns Old Western Scrounger website which sells firesarms and related items.

The ebay user name above has a period after 2015 and before valmo. Hard to see the period on some devices.

Kind of a long shot but worth a try.

Robert & Cowboy, thanks for the suggestions. I got a pretty good list to check on now. The lock is working now but the sear needs to be replaced sooner or later. Hopefully later.
You’re more than welcome my friend. One of the services that L&R provides is refurbishing and repairing of lock’s regardless of manufacturer.

Respectfully, Cowboy

Stay diligent with your search for locks and lock parts. Obviously quite a while since OEM parts were made, and if your sear moves it’s replacement schedule up to the sooner category, and you don’t have or find a replacement, you own a parts gun.

These were good guns in their day. An uncle let me shoot and hunt with one he owned until somebody wanted his stuff and took it. That gun is one of the reasons I have a couple of Ithaca made shotguns in the safe.

If you haven’t seen this article, it’s an interesting read. Debunks the myth that the Ithaca was an exact or close copy of the Kit Carson Hawken. http://grrw.org/ithaca-hawken-ithaca-gun-co/

This rifle looks just like the one in in the link. Not a exact copy but a lot closer than a TC (nothing wrong with a TC guys). I am a retired gunsmith which means lazy and only work on stuff that I want to, LOL. This rifle is too nice to let a messed up sear turn it into a parts gun. If I can't find the correct replacement then by golly I will make one. That's where the lazy part comes into play. I would rather buy a replacement than spend the time and trouble to make one.
