I finally got around to sighting in the Hawkens rifle that I built from TOW parts. It has a 54 caliber Rice barrel. I was shooting 70 grains of FFg Goex and a patched roundball. It was shooting way low when I started, and after 12 shots, I finally got the front sight filed down far enough. Two out of the last three shots went through the same hole in the center of the bullseye, and the last was about 2" low (I turned the target upside down because I was getting too many holes in the bottom of the target). I was only shooting at 25 yards so I would at least be on paper. Didn't have to adjust the windage at all. It was right where I first put the sites. I am pleased to say the least.

I've posted this picture before, but I thought some of you might want to see the rifle I was shooting.

It always gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling when I build a good looking rifle and it shoots too. Congrats on the rifle. It looks like many years of fun.

Very nice looking rifle! Did you build that yourself? Also a very nice shot group. You should post that in the "Post your Hawken here thread". I'm sure you'll get a few questions asked.
