If you don't have a rabbit gun and a good rabbit dog then you don't know what you're missin. This is my beagle Dolly and I with a rabbit that she ran to me and I took with my Butt Ugly .54 smooth rifle (28ga) loaded with #5 shot made by Jack Hubbard

Looks like fun im planning on searching for some bunnies but im going to have to use a moderen gun... When I get time im going to bore a 50 cal barrel I have to 54 and make a new breech plug so it'll fit on my rifle since the barrel has a button breech plug and my rifle is set for a hooked breech

You and Dolly have done well! :applause: My dad always kept a brace of beagles to hunt behind. The last two were Honey and Pepper. Who does not love the sound of their voices? Keep yer powder dry.........robin

I do know what I'm missing. Don't have a beagle, don't have a smoothie. Trying to learn to do it with a powdered down SMR flinter, and just my eyes. I need a tutorial I think.
I can get dozens with snares but not up here in Maine. Not legal.
Oh well. Congrats to you. Share the recipe when you cook 'em, will ya?

Been a long time since I had fried rabbit. Mom used to fry them just like chicken way back when I rabbit hunted in my youth. Your pic brings back many fond memories Ron. Thanks. Good looking dog by the way

Got the dog and got the gun but the hawks, eagles, foxes, coyotes, skunks, rattlers, bobcats, and gators got all the rabbits. :cursing:

i'm jealous!! the beagle I had 25 years ago, I hunted her for 13 years and every rabbit I ever shot over her was with my 20 gauge flint trade gun. those were some of the best hunting days ever!!

Good for you Longhunter  I have the time now but the Coyotes have the Rabbits. :(

Longhunter,
I'm interested in your shoulder cape/hood; did you make it? What type of material?

It was made for me by a friend from some orange wool that she had. She hasn't had any of that material for a long time :shake:

Thanks Longhunter; at least it has got me to thinking. It sure looks better in fullfilling the hunter orange requirement than a traffic safety vest.
