Only being a member of this forum for 2 months I must have become infected- with Flintlock Rifle Fever. During the 1st month I ordered a TVM flintlock Virginia rifle with a Rice .36 cal barrel. Now the infection is spreading- on Friday (my 2nd month as a member of this forum) I ordered a .54 cal Rice barrel for my second TVM Virginia flintlock rifle. Now who do I blame or thank for this infection??
Thanks to all who answered my many questions especially Roundball.

you are lucky it's not to bad yet, are you at the point of whanting to make your own rifles, mold your bullets, bags , powder horn and anything else you need

Yeah, I blamed it on someone else and they just laugh at ya!

Cigarettes have nothing on bp for addiction.

I quit the demon weed, but quitting bp is beyond my power.

Enjoy and stay with it. :hatsoff:

Yes, I chuckle every now and then thinking about how this Flintlock hobby has taken over so much of my life. Its like what I assume feeding a drug habit must be like...I only "need" one Flintlock, but they're so good, more is better, etc...you know the rationalizations:

I have a terrific .58cal deer rifle...but I better get a back up just in case
(different caliber of course)
I have a terrific smoothbore for turkey...but I better get a backup smoothbore just in case
(different gauge of course)
I have a terrific smaller calber rifle for range fun and small game...but I better get a backup just in case
(different caliber of course)

However, there's actually been an unexpected benefit to the sickness...my rule is spend no new money as I approach retirement and its made me re-evaluate/reprioritize all the stuff I've accumulated in my lifetime and as a result I've moved a ton of stuff out of the house the past few years, that I was no longer using and knew I never would.

But 'ohiochuck' has me beat...I've never had TWO Flintlocks on order at the same time !

I hear that.

I'm already retired. I'm going to get rid of what I no longer use as well. And that means more flintlocks.

I don't have anything special (except my flint, of course) so I won't miss it. They're just guns and rifles. Not collector items.

If you decide of getting rid of any bp rifles please pm me. Maybe we'll do some business. I barely started and already have two. Only thing I am thinking about are muzzleloaders. Just cannot get enough information. Just keep reading and reading and reading. Looking for deals, barrels. It is addictive. Hopefully, there is no cure...

Just accept the fault and blame yourself.. If you are married you know well what i am talking about.. :haha:

I won't be dumping BP stuff. Just cf. Sorry bud.
:v

There is no cure. :idunno: :surrender:

It's just the nature of the beast. A bit like joining a gang; you have to prove yourself, then you go on a "job", then you gotta become "made" by doing something else and so on. But bp does keep you off the streets.

the only cure is to start dating a couple of strippers that will cost ya all your money no more guns.

WHAT?! Least you would find another use for your Mink oil :shocked2: :haha:

I wouldn't be too concerned Chuck, it's not like an addiction or something, speaking for myself I can quit anytime I want.

I had a similar problem after reading on this site. I saw a Hawken caplock and bought it then I ran upon a Hawken flintlock and bought it then I saw a Renegade flintlock and bought it, now I'm building a Tip Curtis flintlock, swamped barrel,Siler lock,5 grade curly maple. When will it all end?

end? you want it to end??!! weren't you paying attention to the warning labels?

it never ends- you are destined to be one of those guys who would consider giving up beer in order to buy more powder and shot. (perish the idea)

:rotf:

Or you can just save all the beer cans, sell them for the aluminum and then you can have more money to spend on all your stuff for your rifles!!
