Jacobsburg Rifle Frolic will be next weekend the 19th 20th n 21st I believe up north of Allentown Pa. Anybody heading out to enjoy? Punch in Jacobsburg Historical Sociaty for the particulars. It's a smaller event with maybe 150 to 200 people total. Sort of depends on the economy right now on how many will show up. Fun event with bow, shooting, hawk n knife as well as kids games n Scotish games come Sunday. The event supports the Jacobsburg Sociaty which houses one of the best Pa gun exhibits around. Drop by n say howdy YMHS Birdman

Hi Birdman,

I've always been unclear whether that event is open to anyone to camp at. What's the deal?

Fiddler

Heck yea its open to anyone! it covers from 1700 to 1830ish or there abouts. It's sort a late to send in yer application but you can pay at the gate if ya need to. Give them a call iffen ya want to come out n play. That way they have a bit better idea of how many folks are gonna hopefully show up.

I figure on being there. Gotta make sure that Brooklyn and NJ(where I'm from, and where I live) are properly represented!

Hello all,

I am also going and I will be running the woods walk. There will be a novelity shoot and a knife and hawk throw. also might be a flu flu bow 50/50. That is still in the works. It is a fun little voo. hope to see everyone there. There is also a archery shoot and a clay bird shoot or at least there was on last year. My camp will be by the hawk blocks and there will be a good looking blonde eunning the hawk and knife, stop by and say hi, she will know where to find me. I enjoy meeting floks from the forum. You can stop by too Birdman.

Frosty

P,S, fiddler there is a few people that camp in modern tents up in the parking area, so come on out and have some fun.

:rotf: Can't help but say that this hit my funny bone - on a couple of levels! ;-)

If my work schedule allows, I may just get up to Jacobsburg for one of the days.

Does one have to dress in funny clothes to shoot?  :v

With friends like Frosty - who needs enemys :rotf: :rotf: :blah: . Hey Musiker, bring along an instrument or two, be nice to hear . (if the weather cooperates a course)I'll be heading out Wednesday morning, get a few quiet hours in before the horde shows up. This humidity can go away any time it wants.

looks like my daughter and I will be going on Friday. So if you see a teenage girl spining wool that's our camp. Stop by and say hi. I'll probably have my fiddle and then you'll hear why Fiddler is more a name than a skill(g)

I called and emailed the contact numbers listed on the Jacobsburg web-site to get confirmation that my daughter and I would be able to camp in the primitive area........but so far, no answer. I'd hate to drive from Lancaster co. and find out it is a closed event. Does anyone have any other particulars? Wood & water provided? Fees besides the historical society membership? Gate times?

Thanks,

Fiddler

OK..........I heard from Jan Ballard at Jacobsburg. She said she thought I could participate but I need to contact Mike Jones who is running the encampment. So now I have a call into him......stay tuned(g)

Fiddler, are you camping primative? And do you have the cloths n such? if ya answer yes to either then yer ok to participate. If ya don't have a primative camp you can camp up by the parking area as others have. Wood, water n ice will be provided as well as Hooters(pota pots)usually a camp feed of some sort Sat eve, most likely pot luck but I haven't talked to anyone lately to know for sure. You'll check in n pay the camp fee at the check in tent and after that yer knida on yer own, there is usually sign up sheets at the check in tent for shooting n woods walk as well as Archery n such. Pretty easy to figure out once ya get there. If ya camp primative, set up pretty much anywhere ya like, just ask anyone there about roads n such so ya don't camp in one, other then that its pretty free wheeling.

Thanks Birdman, yea...I/we camp primitive. I'll have my wedge and fly. We should roll in early Friday evening if everything works out. I've driven past the exit for Jacobsburg a zillion times on my way to the poconos but have never managed to make the time to stop. I'm looking forward to seeing the museum and whatnot.

Fidler, the bridge is washed out if ya turn left after ya come off 33. Ya need to turn right n go in the back way to get to the site. I know how to get there from going over the years but can't remember the names of the roads. Give Mike Jones another call n ask for the directions. Its not hard but seems like yer going the wrong way. I believe there are signs up now but don't quote me on that
