Hi, bought this rifle a couple of years ago here in the UK, it is thought to have been built from a Pecatonica river kit in the early 1980's, it has a .54 cal colerain swamped and flared barrel, no marks on it, but inside the lock is signed Gary Player, can anyone identify its origin? I replaced the tunnel front sight with the blade sight that came with it and upgraded the Davis lock with the later **** which apparently has better striking angle. Lock is a bit lazy though so may have to get a new spring.

No sorry i don't, but i can tell you it has raised a few eyebrows target shooting at my club.IMG_2346.jpg
Here is the makers stamp.

That was my reason for buying it, i hadn't intended to, i was buying something else but it caught my eye and once shouldered the balance is lovely, i guess the barrel shape and weight doing what it should.

Just curious, but where did the “Gary” player show up? I see “G” Player but maybe thats George or Geoffry etc.

It was the name quoted to me by the dealer i bought it from, but yes it could be something else. I would like to know if it is a Tow kit, or Pecatonica, don't know if there are differences, its an unusual rifle in the UK, most muzzleloaders are Italian here.

He was obviously a golf-bat playist or whatever they call them.

I would'nt mind betting the G Player, is Graham Player. an Englishman who now lives in the same town as I here in New Zealand. He is a very keen Blackpowder man. he's shot with muzzleloaders in UK, USA etc. Plus Put together nice muzzle loaders.
