Started a nice Sunday afternoon project today. I had some scrap belt blanks and after some quick measurements I had just the right amount without having to cut a new blank. I cut them to length and punched some holes.

Ended up with this

after dying and a light coat of oil.

I need a buckle so I'll swing by tandy tomorrow after work and grab one. I'll top coat it and slick the edges once it dries. I'll be sure to post pictures tomorrow when it's done.

Well I dyed the edges black and slicked them. Then I applied a coat of tan-koati was going to put some antique to the stitch grove lines but decided against it. All I need now is the buckle I'm thinking dark or black metal the rifle doesn't have any brass so I think that would look off.

Put some cold blue on the buckle and it will darken considerably. Rub it back some and it will blend in with the rifle nicely.
Yep. Cold blue will patina it up nicely! This rear sight was very shiny - cold blue applied with a cotton Q tip aged it before my eyes, blending it in nicely with both the blue and the colour case. Good hint @Pete G!

Cheers, Pete
