James Bowie Knife?

Very good presentation. I appreciate his honesty. He frequently said: "we don't really know". That sums up the legend of the Bowie knife. There are few subjects that have more 'experts' than the Bowie. As an Arkansan who has seen the James Black forge and have donated a fine example of a Bowie to the Historic Arkansas Museum I'm always interested in hearing of new theories surrounding the so-called 'first' Bowie. In this vid the story of the folder is a new one for me. True or not, it is a good story.

That knife shown as the Musso Bowie, is NOT THE ACTUAL MUSSO BOWIE KNIFE! There are a few fake copies of the Musso around but only one I saw was really close. There is NO evidence that the Musso knife was made in England. The knife shown has the wrong grind, the wrong brass blade catcher, and the grip size and wear is not the same. Phil Collins bought the Musso knife from Joe and paid a Kings ransom for it. I do not believe Phil Collins would have bought the knife without being confident of its origins. Whether or not it ever belonged to Jim Bowie is a different topic. Phil has since donated the REAL knife to the state of Texas I believe. That guy needs to be glad Joe is no longer with us, as Joe had a penchant for bring lawsuits when his reputation was questioned, and he won most or all of them.
