Hi guys , I got a e mail today from a friend in the U.S.A and he has a japenese charlesville kit hes selling for a great price "500$$" any one ever hear of these kits? He tells me the forestock has a bit of damage, I am handy so it could be a fun project.?!

The price is quite good, does anyone have a picture of one of the japenese charlesvilles??

I have wanted one for a bit but they are always priced at more then 1000$$..This is going to be my last musket for a couple years and in kit form ...it autta keep me busy for a couple weeks.

Hi Rob. If my memory seves me, The Jap Charville was made with a two-piece front stock. Where the two-piece forearm was held together was hidden by the middle barrel band. Otherwise, everything else I remember was good. I guess they did that two-piece stock thing to hold down cost or for shipping reasons. I don't know if they make it anymore. If you don't mind the two-piece stock thing, sounds like a good buy. I know the locks sparked good.

Rob,
The Charleville musket circa 1768 model made by Navy Arms and Miroku was the finest Charleville repro on the market for 20 some odd years. The Pedersoli 1766 model is far too bulky and heavy. I have many pics of the Jap muskets, they are superb sparkers and yes do have a 2-piece stock. Very close to the heft and balance of originals. Email me for pics: [email protected]

Cheers-
Jim
