Joe Schell percussion half stock southern style .36 caliber rifle for sale. The rifle weighs 6.8 lb and is in excellent condition. It's actually a nicer piece of curly maple then you would expect given the dark stain. The barrel and lock are in the white and have taken on a nice patina. The barrel is 35 in long and 13/16 inch straight. The bore is clear and other than a few handling marks, there's nothing wrong with the rifle. I'm more of a flintlock guy myself and could use the money for some other projects. I'd like $1,300 plus $50 shipping within the Continental US. The rifle can also be seen on Joe's blog during the construction phase. IMG_20210106_140012822_HDR.jpgIMG_20210106_135927096_HDR.jpgIMG_20210106_135907948_HDR.jpgIMG_20210106_135917959_HDR.jpg

Although I'd prefer to sell outright, I'd also consider partial or complete trades for the right stuff. Namely, I'd love a flintlock Hatfield squirrel rifle or something similar (I think Pecos Valley Arms and Ozark Mountain Arms both made similar halfstock rifles) and would consider a Jack Garner or similar flintlock rifle of the right configuration. I might even consider other options, tools, large bore yet lightweight flintlock rifles, etc. etc..

Bumping again and I'll try another $100 drop on the price to $1100, plus $50 shipping within CONUS. I'm really surprised that this rifle hasn't been snatched up yet.

I'll shoot you a note tomorrow AM with some specific info Bob. On Joe's blog, look at October 2013 and scroll down to .36 half stock rifle.

Yes, it's the third entry in October of 2013 and he took one of the photos with a pistol build. Babysitting my young granddaughter this morning (she's a joy, but she's young enough that I can't do anything else), so I'll have to get back to you later today on the lock (and possibly the barrel) manufacturer. It's a "standard" English style lock for sure and I used to know, but I've forgotten.

I think that based on the internals that the lock is a Siler percussion lock. when I'm able, I'll take the gun out to the shop and remove the barrel and see if the barrel is stamped as well.

Let me know about the barrel if you get around to it but I'll take it. Go ahead and send me your paypal and we'll get you paid.
