Guard:Wrought iron
Butt cap: Wrought iron
Handle wood:Curly maple with a flame toasted .
Blade length. almost 13in long
Wide. 2 3/8 in,
Spine 1/4 tapers to the tip

The blade has a clip point to help make the tip lighter.

(Sorry JamesG, not laughing at the quality of your work, you've done very well, it's a fine knife. It's just that no soldier wore a knife like that for more than a few days.)
 
I just made , I never said I was wearing or it was for me. :wink: I agree it is alittle heavey

That's fine, it is a good looking knife and you get pleasure from doing it so keep up the good work. :thumbsup:
 
Thats a great lookin bowie like the iron guard and cap you etched that in acid to get that look didnt you
 
James, although I am not much of a Bowie fan, I will say that you made a very attractive knife. Great work!! :thumbsup:

I believe it was at 1st Manassas that a Confederate regiment (the Louisiana Tigers?) actually had a command of "draw Bowies, cahrge!"

They only did it once.
 
The bowie is my Fav.knife to make.I have some big antlers that need to be used.Thanks all for nice words. It all Jimmy fault.
