SOLD Jonathan Browning Mountain Rifle .45

I have a Jonathan Browning Mountain Rifle for sale. I do not know much about this particular rifle. I got it in a collection of black powder rifles that I picked up last month. It appears to have been fired very little if ever. I am asking $900 for it. Let me know if you have any questions or would like additional pictures. I will take check or money order or maybe even consider a trade. There were 9 black powder rifles in the collection along with a extra barrel. I was after only one of the rifles but decided to keep two of them.

Nope, it would be worth more and very useful! Had a 50 bored out by Bobby to 58. Took it to the range and while shooting it a guy bought it from me for $1200. I sure was pleased.

This sucker is heavy though.

I had Ted Fellows custom make one to my specifications using all American made parts. It is .54. Ted told me it would be about 11 pounds. My son recently characterized it as a beast. I carefully researched all I could find out so that it would be as close as possible to what would have come out of the Hawken shop back in the day. The closest commercial example available when I placed my order was what this man has put up for sale. I have only seen one, and it was for sale at a gun show many years ago in Atlanta or Marietta.

J Browning mountain rifle, do they have green mt barrels? The single set trigger is it adj. Wondering about trigger pull after it's set, and barrel length, I've heard you mention yours

Browning set up a small shop to manufacture these rifles, a thousand of them.single set is a nice target trigger, light. 31" barrel. If you do some googling, you will find the newspaper article on the shop in Utah and it wasn't GRRW! This will be passed down many generations , you won't regret owning one and the .45 will kill anything in the US. They are tack drivers.

The majority of JBMR’s are iron mounted, this example is brass mounted which to the best of my knowledge makes it a bit harder to find.
The trigger is adjustable via a screw in the trigger plate- push the trigger forward to set. It will fire unset as well.
Be gentle with the mainspring, they are a known weak link prone to breakage.
