Was wondering. How does jugchoking a barrel affect round ball accuracy?
Am getting a TVM americam fowler with a 42" barrel. would like to use it for shot and ball. Don't plan on juging it unless I have to. If I do will it ruin round ball shootin'?
Also it's a 62 cal longhammock barrel. Am new to smooth bore round ball huckin' what would be your advice on ball size and patch.

I've had customers shoot PBR's thru .040 jug before in 10 bores and they said they shoot good. Your 20 bore may shoot shot pretty well with out a jug. Have you ever looked down the bore of a Longhammock barrel? If the waves are in the right place, it may all ready be jugged! :haha:

are longhammock barrels less than perfect in smooth bore? I shoot all GMBarrels this is my first smooth bore. Have been told bt TVM that longhammock is the barrel to have :hmm:

I've seen more bad ones than good ones. I won't use them myself.
Colerain is a far superior barrel, of course there's Rayle too and Getz is probbaly the best you could get. I'd go with seamless tubing before I put a longhammock barrel on a gun.

Now Mike, we're going to have to work with you to be more clear in making your point...

any advice for a first time smoothie shooter?
patch thickness, lube, powder as in fff or ff. I shoot Goex. I do want to huck balls and maby try a little buck an ball.
could you clue me in or send me to a web sight that says it all?
I do a ton of shootin' and competing with rifled muzzleloaders. but want to get into what my ancesters used during the revolution. mostly for turky, grouse, bunnies, than deer.
I am back, another question I just got off the phone with my muzzleloading guru coyotejoe who said if the barrel is wavy we could lap it. whats you opion have you done this with wavy barrels with good results?

If this is a 20 bore I'd start at about 60gr. of 3fff goex, .600 ball and pillow tick patch lubed with wonder lube. go up or down from there till you find the sweet spot.
If the bore is wavy, I'd send it back and get another, I wouldn't even mess with it.
