Has anyone had, or know anyone who has had, a 'Jug Choke' installed by Caywood Guns to know about the quality of their work?

The good news is I had one done by them when I purchased a Wisldon from then. The bad new is that I have not worked up a load yet and cant say how will it works. If you were to give me a set load I will try it for you any way you would like . The barrel is a 20 gauge 41 incsh long. Would only take me a day or to to shooot what ever load you want and get back to you.

John

Sorry I mean Wilson grade trade gun, just got home from work and a little tired.

John

By the way your up late.

I also forgot to say that the barrel is jug choked between mod and full.

John

I wish they would come out with a new gun just to see whick way they fould go with it.

No need for all that but thanks for the offer...and it might be a little apples & oranges anyway as my interest is in a Full choke.
I fight typos all the time...the good news is I've started to notice forum software that has built-in spell check...probably imbedded in the next wave of upgrades coming out

No experience with their jug-choked barrels but I could not imagine them doing anything but an outstanding job for you. I have seen a few of their long-guns and it's all top quality. I'm sure they perfected the process before they offered it as a service to customers.

I tend to agree...its just always reassuring to get some actual hands-on testimonials from others.

And to be honest, I'm surprised more barrel makers like Rice, Rayl, etc, don't get geared up/skilled up to do them...it would be so much simpler if you could just buy a barrel and specify a particular jug choke before it ever leaves the premises

Roundball, I have a Caywood English fowler in 20ga. I ordered it in a full jug choke. Only thing Iv'e used it for is squirrel hunting and it has been great. Have taken squirrels out to 35yds. with confidence. I have shot roundball at 25yds. and can keep them in 2in. I am going for a good 50yd. group. Would like to take a whitetail with it.Caywood has been great to deal with. :hatsoff: Teton Ted

Talked with Caywood about their Full Jug Choking...said they usually ship the barrel back out within a week, careful not to get fingerprint oils on it if its in the white, etc...seems quick, careful, and affordable so the check's in the mail. I'll post pattern results after the Virginia is built and I get it to the range but it'll be quite a while of course...
