I recently picked up a Jukar Spanish made Kentucky rifle in .45 cal. I know that these rifles are the same as the CVA and Traditions muzzleloaders. The front sight on this gun has a very thin brass blade. I'd like to replace it with a wider version. Does anyone have any suggestions what to get? It has the metric dovetail. I was thinking of calling Traditions and getting a replacement hoping that it would have atleast a .060" wide blade.

Get the measurements of the dovetail off your rifle and start shopping at Track of The Wolf. That's where I've gotten my replacement front blades. You probably won't find a replacement with exact dimensions, so just goa little bit larger and hit it with a file to make it fit.

Thanks Trench, I've been looking at doing just that. That way I could get a front sight with the blade width that I prefer. The older eyes need the assistance.

I have one of those rifles, and also did not like the original sight on it. So, I filed one out of a brass door key and attached it to a piece of dovetail. Works out great.

See ya, Jim/OH :hatsoff:

Hi bobbo,

if you have problems with the sight then I'll recommend a fieber optic rear and front sight from AimRight. Cal the Log Cabin Shop in Lodi/Ohio. They have them. I put these sights on all my Ardesa/Traditions rifles(Deerhunter and Hawken Woodsman).

You can try Deer Creek Products 1-765-525-6181
They carry all the old CVA stuff, which the same thing as far as I know.
