I bought a Jukar at an auction.Nice iron but bad stock. Is it better to get a new stock? Or wate for another with opposit problem ? The barrel has onley Jukar and Spain on it ,with no proof marks of any kind not even the calaber.

depending on what type it is if you paid more then 100 you got ripped!!! there are still a few around I got one rifle and pistol. if I remember cva took them over. witch deer creek now deals with all the side hammer parts for these guns. ok some of there moldals where good some not. my wifes jucker/cva .45 kentucky is a good shooter. the calonial pistol shoots all over. (no it not me) :blah: problem with the pistols was if they had a bad barrel on a rifle they cut it to make a pistol. most of them are 1 and 60 twist great for prb. in a rifle... not fast enough twist for pistols thuogh. let us know what type it is. I may have parts.

You might find the proof marks on the bottom of the barrel near the breech plug.

The Jukar's were made in Spain by Ardesa, the company that provided 90% of the guns CVA imported.

Generally speaking, the barrels on these guns were pretty good (if they aren't badly rusted in the bore) but the locks were a far cry from the best.

These guns, in my opinion are a fun gun to shoot but I wouldn't put a lot of money in restocking it unless you plan to keep it for yourself for a long time. You won't be able to sell it for much more than the cost of restocking it.

What's wrong with the stock ya got?

In any event, just wait for a stock,,they come along from time ta time,,I have one I'm waiting on a barrel for,,they'er out there too, just not the price I'm willing to pay.

Thanks for all the good advice.I have $ 85 in it so far. The barrel looks good in and out, but the stock looks like some sort of pressed wood.I will wate for a stock to show up.

I doubt that it is pressed wood even if it looks like it is.

More than likely, it is beech which has a weird grain pattern and doesn't accept stains well unless they are applied very heavily with multiple coats.

A lot of the CVA's and other Ardesa made guns used this wood.

Their mystery wood responds well to Aquafortis. I've redone 2 now and am surprised at how good they look, considering.
