But he was one I said I'd shoot if the opportunity arose. It had been a pretty quiet week here and crazy weather, pretty near 60 degrees here today after a cool drizzly day yesterday. :youcrazy: I kept seeing a button buck every day and nothing else till after dark. This guy came trotting down passed me at 4:30 tonight and gave me a good broadside at 30 yards. My custom .58 went right off and he went right down, turned out I was a little high and hit him top of the shoulders. Haven't weighed him yet but he's about 100 lbs dressed weight, with heh 9 tags, figured it was time to fill one.

Hey the animals adapt to us I have tried the hard fast rules but when there isn't a whole lot of deer in your area and you need the meat well you shoot. Congrats Good deer you earned him.

Way to go Swamp Rat. Your getting me all psyched up.
Our Vt. rifle season starts tomorrow however we are expecting rain all day. Looks like I will be taking out my percusion Hawken instead of my flintlock considering the forecast. I'm hoping my wool blanket keeps me dry, or at least warm.

By the way, I will be headed to my spot where I saw a VERMONSTER Buck on the last day of bow season three weeks ago. With a lot of luck, he may show himself again.
I will keep you guys posted.

Excellent! Can you send him as an attachment? I'll give you the EMail address to my freezer.

The lil **** weighed 110 hog dressed which surprised me, I thought he was lighter.

I took a nice Doe over on the Island a month a go with it David, so I got figure out where to put two notches in my gun now. :hmm:

Nice layout for a pic, good job on a traditional hunt, 9 tags!! that would be hard to take, medicaly I mean, I would likley have a stroke and spend the season stoved up should I have 9deer tags, you guys have a great managment program when the herd can sustain that kind of harvest, don't stop now keep shootin'!

:haha: Well thats a either sex tag and two antlerless tags in each season and actually archery season has a "Earn a buck" program where if you tag two antlerless, you can get another either sex tag for a total of 10 tags.

We are dealing with "Urban deer" here which is a totally different species I believe, sure seems like it some times.

Nice tender young buck there Swamprat! There's not a darn thing wrong with him smothered in mushrooms! :hatsoff:
I thought We here in Wisconsin were the only folks dealing with "earn a buck". I've been workin my tail off trying to kill a doe so I can shoot a buck (archery hunting) I've had the same 8 point under my stand the last two nights and a forkhorn with only the right side head gear that trailed me to my tree and then spent about 3 minutes lookin at me before wagging his tail and walkin off. :cursing: but can't find a doe fer nothin. Glad to see somebody's makin meat!
