found a t/c 56 cal. renegade for 135 put it on layaway. turkeys beware, hogs too. :hatsoff:

i have looked but can not find renegae 56 cal. load data. anyone know of it. looking for shot loads.

Look in the "Charts - Reference" section of this forum, in "Charts, Reference" for the "Shooting Thompson/Center Sidelock Firearms" pdf. It has the load info you're looking for.

I have a downloaded copy of T/C's manual that covers loads for the percussion rifles, all calibers. they show only one load for the .56SB. Can't come up with right now but send me your email address by PM and I will try to attach it and send to you.

My old 1992 copyright TC book shows a shot load for their .56 as, 80 grains of 2Fg powder under 7/8 oz of #6 or #7 1/2 shot using (1), 1/2" thick T/C Fiber wad over the powder and (1), 1/2" thick T/C Fiber wad over the shot.

Paraphrasing, they say, set your powder measure to 80 grains, measure and pour the powder into the barrel. Ram one fiber wad down against the powder.

Reset the powder measure to 60 grains and fill it with shot.
Pour the shot down the barrel followed with one fiber wad. Ram the wad down tightly on top of the shot.
Prime and shoot.

For shooting a .550 diameter, lead roundball they recommend a 80 grain 2Fg powder load.
They show a 90 grain powder load and in red ink, they show a 100 grain 2Fg powder load with the caution, Load Shown in Red is Maximum - Do Not Exceed"

I have a better pattern using an overshot card instead of a fiber wad. I think that the fiber wad blows a hole in the pattern, at least with my SB. Sometimes I use two overshot cards overpowder. Pattern board was at 30 yds.YMMV
