Just made this to fit my lock. Now to make a small one for the bridle screw etc. ..
 
I made it out of plain steel squarestock I picked up at the hardware store. I had to strip the friggin plating of first though!
 
That's nice; inspiring even. Makes me want to try it myself.
 
I didn't mean to post twice! The reason I asked about the metal was , sometimes mild steel is a little too soft for screwdrivers, you may have gotten a piece of carbon steel but I doubt it. Any way nice job. If you ever think you might like to forge out another get a piece of music wire from the hobby shop it is high carbon steel and can even be forged into pretty good chisels and gouges or strikers for flint and steel. I think the largest dia. Is 1/4 in. Which squares up nicely for a turn screw. I know you can't stop at just one, we have the same. disease. Show me your next ten. Have fun.
 
I will have to try that with the next one since it will be smaller. Nuthin like making your own stuff!!!
