Tested some more bare balls and #6 shot really loving the 58 smoothbore. No clay pigeons survived and my steel gong got a work out.

I'm in the pondering mode putting together a shopping list for the parts to build something similar. Yours looks something like what I have in mind only I want a shorter barrel for portability. What gun is that, meaning who built it and what brand of barrel? It's a really nice looking gun. Is that a cherry stock? What loads are you using?

Yep cherry stock ,It's a kibler Colonial smoothbore longrifle. Been shooting 85 grains of my homemade black with 1 1/2oz of #6 shot , .562 PRB same 85 grain load, or 120 grains and a .577 bare ball. Today I tested 120 grains and a .575 and .576 bare balls they shot pretty well but not as good as the .577s @ 50 yards with that powder charge. More testing to be done with those. I tried some tow with both .575 and .576s I liked that combo and looked to be promising.
