Sadly my neighbor passed back in March. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter and loved muzzleloaders. One of his Muzzleloaders I was able to purchase was a Pedersoli Mortimer .54/12ga combo flintlock. I picked it up for $350. It needs a flint and the piece of leather that goes in the jaws as well as a good cleaning. It has some rust down the bore and in the touch hole but not anything too crazy. I just wanted to know what size flint and leather the lock takes on this rifle and what place is the best to buy flints from. Also on a side note the rear sight is damn hard to see through. Anyone know of a better rear sight to upgrade to ?

i sol my Mortimer, and I miss it.
the sight is a odd width as I recall. I was going to make a blank and fit a standard sight on top. Pedersoli also makes a tang sight that might fit.

Yea I have the tang creedmoor one that came with the rifle I just wanted to see if there were better sights out there for the rear.

a Mortimer for 350.00! with what appears to be a tang ladder sight ! for 350.00! you sir have scored!
3/4 inch flint and the others already told where.
350.00!!!!!!!!!!!! wow.
Deals like that are indeed out there. I bought one at a gun show a few years ago for $450. Unfortunately I had no idea what I was buying. He had 4 more pedersoli's priced the same. I only bought the Mortimer because of the hook breach. I passed on charleville and a Bess and whatever else he had I should have bought them all and I did have the cash on hand.
It's the rifle on the top in this picture
