Man, what a hansom piece. Bet you were one happy shooter when you opened up the bag on that puppy.

The wood grain on yours is just crazy (in a good way) Tiger stripes!! Very cool and probably one in a thousand.

I have one like yours, sans stripes. Got it early last year to go with my Pieta Remington 8 inch and not historically accurate 6 1/2 inch in .36 caliber. Sure glad I did. Later smoothed out the internals a little but it shot and grouped beautifully right off the brown truck.

I have found 25 grains of Pyrodex P in the Rem.44's is just about right for max grouping. 30 grains of Pyro P is a lot of fun too but maybe a little heavy for consistent shooting. 30 grains sure bounces those shorties -- what a party!

Have found that a little Lubriplate on the arbor/cylinder pin is an absolute 'game changer' -- learned that right here from CaptainKirk and some of the boys.

Have fun with that beauty and let us know what loads it and you like. Put up some more pictures after you get it rubbed out a little.

Happy new year and good shootin' to ya.

I still have not had a chance to get out to the range as yet, what with the Holidays and the snow up here in the mountains.

In the interim, however, I did manage to pick up another Pietta 1858 New Army. This one has an 8" barrel. This is a brand new "In the box" pistol that bought from a member on another BP forum. In addition to the pistol, he threw in a holster as well...

For my Christmas/Birthday gift, my lovely bride bought me yet another Pietta 1858 New Army from Cabela's! This one has a 5-1/2" barrel and will be a matching twin to my first New Army with the 5-1/2" barrel....It is on back-order and is supposed to arrive sometime by the end of January...

Here is a pic of the 8" New Army:

Mine is the same gun only with target sights. I really love the brass trigger guards on these guns and they are of the best design I have come across only surpassed , in my opinion , by Ruger Old Army's which are not an authentic copy of anything. MD

A couple more revolvers and you'll be well armed as well as any Missouri Bushwacker that ever lived! I need a rainmaker like you have in my house. Congrats.

Or, as well armed as any Kansas Jayhawker for that matter. He is really gettin' 'heeled' with some purdy pistols. At the rate that brother mic214 is a-goin' he might consider changing his middle name to George Maddox.

Looks like the Cabelas sale on these guns is over. Price is back up to $229.99.

Wanted to order a 5 incher to go with the 8 inch New Army I bought. But, since this is my first C&B revolver, I held off to see how it went. They seem like a lot of gun for the $179.99 sale price.

Maybe next year.

My third New Army showed up yesterday. I do feel kind of like Josey Wales! Now I just have to figure out a way to carry all three..!!!

Over the past couple of months I have been gathering a couple of Pietta 1858 New Army's. I have two "Sheriff's Models" with 5-1/2" barrels and one standard model with an 8" barrel.

The weather hasn't been too cooperative up here, so I hadn't had a chance to shoot them until today. My local range had it's monthly "Black Powder" shoot today, so I brought my New Army's out and "Made some smoke"!

I was shooting .457 balls, with wonder wads over a charge of 30 grains of Pyrodex and #10 Remington caps. One of the BP shooters let me borrow his reloading stand that was made by Powder Inc. and that sure made loading the cylinders a snap! The New Army's shot great and I am very happy with them.

I just got finished cleaning my pistolas and now I am watching Clint Eastwood in "Pale Rider".....
