Well .....now I know at least ....This d@mn Caywood lock just started screwing up all of a sudden ....lordy ....ya pull the trigger and it drops onto the half cock notch . I was like " what the he// ?" ....never did that before . Its started acting JUST like the Curly lock I struggled with for weeks ....Great .... Well , its the sear . A tiny piece of the sear has wore away where it engages the fly ...so , the sear hits the half cock notch .... F$#k .....welp, I got it almost done so I'll order the sear Monday then continue with making the ramrod and I have to sand down the whole stock then finish .... Really want end to be shooting the %#@& ing thing but ....wish in one hand $#it in the other . Always something ...... meh. :/

Startin the tapered ramrod ... Long drawn out job ...5/16 to 1/2' . This is the 5/16" brass threaded tip ....for attaching cleaning jag etc. to the ramrod . You can see the huge difference in diameter ....it will taper from just under 5/16 , right here , to half inch on the other end .... This end he wood is obviously still 1/2" ....lots of work ....

Got the ramrod mostly done ....its been hand tapered but just needs to be cut to final length then thrown in my dip .... Not so much h the ramrod itself BUT ..... what a colossal pain in the @$$ this process was. Ok , so the ramrod that came with the gun was about a 1/4" dia..on the tip end , entirely too small so it had to go.And unfortunately the hole in the forearm wasn't much bigger in dia. so that wasn't going g to work either . Because the forearm was already done it could not be drilled to 3/8" ad it should have been , because it would have just split right open ruining the whole gun stock SO .... I tapered the ramrod , then measured 11" and marked the ramrod , length of forearm ...set it aside and then used the old thin R.R. and split one end and put in some 60 grit sand paper and chucked it in the drill .... I carefully sanded the inside of the ramrod hole till the rod fit in there and went to the bottom.....easier said than done as it took f%$#ing forever and had to constantly clean out the hole with wire to get out piece of the sand paper and such ....took longer than I thought it would ...was a chore but ....its done , or darn close to done . Still darn tight ramrod in the groove but good to see the tradegun hanging on the wall with the ramrod in there .... I'll try and get it loosened up a bit and then disassemble the whole gum and get to sanding it all down , for final sand and finish.. Nerd to put it aside for a couple days though ...got other work to get on ...
and order than darn sear .....better put that on my.Monday list

I am usually very understanding but ....even I have my limits . if m$#@&% f%$#@& dont know what they are doing they really ought to leave firearms , explosives and delivering babies to experienced folks ..... d@mn !! Stupid amateurish carvings , over sized horse shoe nails bashed into thin brass on the edge of the wood , 3/8" ramrod pipes with 5/16 " groove and hole , barrel lugs barely attached to the barrel , Barrel pins huge nails with huge gaping holes in the wood and can't be k ocked through as they should be and tear up the wood to remove them , tang cobbled up , tang screw made from a HUGE sinker spike nail, stupid carving on the ramrod groove , nose just ....I dont know what they were trying to accomplish ....glue under the RR pipes , Tiny , under 1/16" pins in RR pipes that were glued in , and pin drilled to blow out the top , gap at rear of barrel and tag , trigger pin is way too tiny and was only in half ! of its hole ! Other half sticking out the sear hole ! and I think glued in the half !! Red glue looking $#it every where under every part ... front blade so thin you can't see it .... and a couple things I won't mention ...Really stupid $#it.....I'll get her all fixed up but ...good gawd !
'Long is the way, and hard, that out of hell leadeth up to light'...Milton.

Stamped the barrel with the LONDON , Sitting Fox and English Proof mark on her . Oh no ! Now I can't import her into England !! What have I done ?!! LOL !! ..... :D

That is strikingly well-made. Who made it? Great pics. Lovely.
I dont know for sure ...I'm guessing its a Caywood , one off , or an early one , kit of course as who ever originally built it was very bad at building , obviously a first for them . I have yet to identify the barrel maker but all other parts are Caywood so ....
