Another pistol I found out here. Please help with details. Through a magnifyer, there is evidence of the gold leaf on the barrel where it was worn. The 1845 was painted on later for some reason.
Jerry is one of the finest gunmakers working today. His engraving is unsurpassed as is the quality of his stock work and the various finishes that he applies to both metal and wood. His gold, silver and platinum inlay in metal is exceptional. I will keep trying to find my link to his website so you can see what he is capable of. He posts here occasionally.
Your pistol, made sometime in the last 50 or so years was probably one of his earlier pieces that has been somewhat abused to "antique" it.
One of 25? Well that was 10 years ago. It would be interesting if he was on here and educated me on the weapon. I'll just say this, I found it in a very interesting place given its origin.
The pistol in question is not one of mine. It appears to be of Middle Eastern style. In my lifetime I have only made long rifles and European high art guns like English pistols, German Jaegers and French fowlers. I never started doing gold work until about 2002. This is one of mine.

This pistol is owned by Frank Brownel. Frank as you know owns the largest firearms parts and accessories company in the world. It is the centerpiece of his collection. I am working on a German Jaeger that may be in the CLA show next year if they will let me display it.
Jerry, first it is an honor to have you answer my question. I appreciate you taking the time, and will make sure this is taken out of circulation. My kid will have the best pirate costume at Halloween (at least with the most expensive accessories).
