I know several of you are from Kansas by your forum name and several of you I have had private messages from. It might be fun to share where you are from and a little other information as you see fit.

I have been shooting muzzleloaders for almost 45 years and started with a flint CVA rifle kit I built. It was a Jukar and I never shot it much as the frizzen was junk. I next built a CVA pistol kit also in flint and sold it a number of year later. My third rifle was a Thompson Center 50 Hawken kit that I still have. It has a low serial number K50XX.

I live in Manhattan and am active as an RSO at Fancy Creek Range, but am not active in any muzzleloading clubs.

Any good muzzleloading shops in Kansas? I am very near to Smoky Valley Shooting Sports and they do stock some. I was curious if any shops somewhat specialize in muzzle loading? Looking more for smaller places other than Cabelas, Scheels, Dunhams, etc.

Any of you Kansas critters going to this? I an planning on shooting. Not sure on camping yet as I would stick out like a sore thumb with my "modern" gear! Looks like it is located North of Salina halfway to Concordia. I don't know any of these groups and just found it digging on the internet.

Back in the 1920's there were so many post office robberies in Kansas/Nebraska, the post office over-printed "Kan-Nebr" on common stamps to kind of be able to "trace" them if used elsewhere. Google Kansas-Nebraska overprint US stamps from that time period. Bonnie & Clyde were hard to catch as no helicopters were available, nor police radio like today.

Dylan, I suspect you would be welcome regardless of dress. If it is real cold period correct insulated Carhardts would likely be acceptable. Just try to put together what you can. Most groups are welcoming and especially to new comers.

Of course I’ve had conversations with Jake!

I live in the Wamego area and grew up in the Marysville/Home City area. My father, younger brother and I were members of the Wolf Creek group near Beattie. I left the Rendezvous scene probably 15 or so years ago, but have shot my muzzleloader(s) ever since.

Any more, my younger brother is the one who camps any more (not that we don’t, just not traditionally). I mainly just hunt with my muzzleloders now. Once Leland Davis finishes up my barrel, I’ll have a .58 smoothie flinter, .58 rifled flinter, and my first .40 percussion.

I’m hoping to attend High Plains next year at Leland’s at least for a day or two. I’m also hopeful to get my 6 yr old boy out to enjoy what I did growing up. More than likely at Corndodger, which was basically a second home growing up. Got to find some garb and a shelter tent first!

My wife's cousin lives up there around Marysville somewhere. You guys have some big deer up there! Ours aren't bad here in McPherson county but not quite as big on average as yours.

I’m sure I probably know them! NE KS is pretty well known for big deer as long as there is habitat to support them. My father and I actually got to see the 11th largest non typical whitetail up in those parts

I’m in NE Topeka area. Monthly shoot at First Santa Fe Trail Plainsmen club. I attend several Rendezvous a year, usually at Corndodger station and Chisholm Trail.

I'm in St. Mary's, haven't been able to do much much muzzleloading recently, but I am hoping to start building and restoring a few. I am also hoping to become an rso at fancy creek. Are there any good clubs out in the Manhattan/Topeka area I can join?

Castironcrazy, I’m in Manhattan and also RSO at Fancy Creek occasionally. There are several Muzzleloading clubs in the area including Kaw Valley Muzzleloaders. They have a Facebook page. The Kansas Muzzleloading Association is having their annual meeting in Topeka at the Ramada Inn on Feb. 2,3,4. They will have traders and venders there. Saturday is probably the best day to go for that.

Oh BTW, I have way too much cast iron cookware for my needs but my daughter in Michigan is worse.

I was on a little road trip today and found a great source of hemp for wadding and wiping smooth bores.
