Did a search here in the "Bench" forum and found nothing on this topic: I was wondering if anyone here built a Kibler Colonial and replaced the wooden patch box cover with their own brass patch box cover?
Did you frabricate your brass cover yourself or did you order one from somewhere? The inletting I can do; the metal work is another question. It would be my first effort to do that.I did this on a Chambers York 50 cal. Easy task, except for the complicated inletting work and the latch work. (Lancaster Co. style ornate box)

Is that a single-set trigger on the top one? Never seen a trigger quite like that before. Unique!!York with brass next to my 58 Lancaster, both Chambers sets.
I'm working on one now. There are several tutorials on making brass patchboxes on line and in several books. Not hard to do. I filled the dovetail on the buttpiece with a brass "plug", silver soldered into place. Check out flint rifle smith's page, for some info on domed boxes. Bill Rabe has a couple of series, on Rumble, on scratch building, in which he demonstrates making a patch box, but you might have to wade through a few videos to find them. A search on "flintlock rifle building," there should bring up his page.Did a search here in the "Bench" forum and found nothing on this topic: I was wondering if anyone here built a Kibler Colonial and replaced the wooden patch box cover with their own brass patch box cover?
My apologies that we missed your note. We offer the Colonial without a wood box, but the Woodsrunner only comes with a wood box.Nice work everyone. I'm working an my 5th kibler. Woodsrunner in cherry. And wanted a brass patch box.
When I orderd the kit I put in to the ordering notes. No patch box and a butt plate to match.
The kit arrived WITH the standard cutouts for the wood patch patchbox.
So my takeaway ftom this is to call Kibler when placing the order.
I'm slowly working on finishing it up. Likley with wood patchbox.
Boy there are to many other things to do in the summer.
I wounder if that was the case. Interrupting the set process of a CNC run was not an option. My apologies that we missed your note. We offer the Colonial without a wood box, but the Woodsrunner only comes with a wood box.
