A local guy has built a nice Kibler flinter that he's wanting to sell. It is in near perfect condition and works flawlessly. The wood is a high-grade maple with beautiful curling throughout. Brass hardware as commonly used during the time period that this rifle was modeled after. This is a full-sized long rifle .54 Caliber with a 43.25-inch barrel. He built it last spring and has shot it enough to make sure it works well. I got him down to $1,300. Any input would be welcomed.

Is the Colonial supposed to have a swamped barrel? Those barrels are better weight wise.

Thanks, I just went to their page. It looks like they do good work even if there is little left for the buyer to do. I read some reviews and one buyer was unhappy he had to do some finish work on a casting and the sliding patch box. The castings look pretty decent to me and certainly less work than I’m used to having to do. If I clean out my collection some I may get one to assemble. Price isn’t bad considering they have knocked out more than a hundred hours of work.

Cleaning up the brass castings is becoming the longest part of the process for me. I started at 150 grit, and have to wonder if I should have started with 80.

Have you picked it up and tried to hold it for a few seconds while trying to site in on something?
You may not like the weight.

I paid $200 more than that for a cherry-stocked .54 Colonial 2 years ago, not nearly as well-finished, and considered it a good buy... still do, if that says anything about yours.

A Colonial with fancy maple furniture, you can get a new unfinished kit for $1345 plus the governors share, plus shipping. Then you will have to buy some finishing supplies and put in the sweat equity, Cut to the chase and buy the dang rifle, well worth it.

I will tell you that I have found AI and auto correct in my experience has to be proof read and edited more than my own silly self
