I haven't seen one cut down, yet. I'm sure it will happen at some point.

Where would you cut it relative to the swamped profile?

I have, though, seen this half stock that someone created. I think it might be the longest half stock I have ever seen. A shortened SMR would be light as a feather, too.

If the contour of the stock matches the barrel, I guess it wouldn't matter where you cut it at, but I would think 2 or 3 inches in front of the second lug would work.
 
A PA family cut one down for their 7 or 8 year old son. A 45 cal so he could go late season deer with the rest of the family. Barrel and LOP both shortened. I thought it looked OK, but don't know how well it will fit him when he's 10-12...

Picture, I cropped the little kid, but he already had success with it.
