I did stain it, but I just couldn't get it as dark as the gun..
..I imagine you could but it would take something other than iron nitrate
i have had success with tannic acid, followed by aqua fortis, finished with tru-oil tinted with black walnut.

I would suggest that, if the the OP has questions or would like constructive feedback oh his work, that he also post his work in the Gun Builders forum, so that running comments and questions about stock finishing and such can be addressed there, and keep this thread focused on the sale of this item.
It would eliminate these conversations and keep things on track and possibly help him sell his rifle faster.
These side comments are just getting ridiculous and unwarranted for this thread.
No feedback needed on my little interjection here, just a suggestion.

Why? False compliments will only have the builder continue to do sub-par work. Honesty will help him improve himself. Semper Fi.
i know this, i would never sell you anything! i was a professional transmission rebuilder for 45 years and a shop owner. i have delt with people who you could not please, no matter what, and if you were sold anything the seller would be sorry you bought it. if you really want to help this man, and if you in fact have any good advice, why not PM him instead of ridicule him on an open forum! no offence to you but honesty this will help you improve yourself,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Beautiful. Love the color and design. Question: how come in all the kit long guns, the ramrod looks like a normal piece of wood, maybe stained, but no where close to the beauty of the long gun. Just curious.
In order to have a slim looking forearm the ram rod is left a lighter color to create a contrast. Makes a better looking rifle.

Let's remind EVERYONE, It matters not how great you think you are.
Rule #21, prohibits negative comments in the classifieds. It CAN AND WILL have penalties
Like the TV; if you don't like what's on, change the channel.

I'm disappointed no one here saw fit to report the negative comments, they were uncalled for.
