A few knives ive accomplished The bottom is a 3/16 spring steel from a leif spring nice this leather handle..A real survivor knife..you can split wood with it all day then gut a 6 inch brook trout after...keeps its edge...3rd one down is a patch knife from spring steel. the 2nd one down is something i made in high school shop in 74...from a file...in 7th grade..the top is a knife i built for my father in a farmhouse that had a grinder in the basement..i had no money for xmas that year in the early 80s and this was his gift.AHA HE SAYS after i thought he would never use it...I KNOW WHY those mountain men carried a big knife....IT was because they only got 1/ONE shot and like me cut a shooting lane.

Wish either of my sons would take the time to do something like that. It has much special meaning then and good mojo on top of that! Rudy Ruana (R.H. Ruana) started knife making using car leaf springs. Some of the best blades in the business and highly sought after.

I seen dad build things because there was,nt no money or stores ..HE built a complete muzzleloader from scratch ..a peice of maple plank under the couch drying. He had a freind build the locks from parts.on;y thingg they bought was the barrel and hammer.hangs here in house..he used it to squirrl hunt for food with it 45 cal horns too ...he built ..sons are too spoiled ..like mine is,,the push button nintendo generation
