I picked and ate my first Kohlrabi of the season last night. It was delicious extremely mild and almost as sweet as an apple....peeled sliced thin and just a touch of salt.....yummy!
Apparently the first recorded crop in the United States was in 1806....but I can't find any more details than that....

How do you like yours?

Yes uncooked!....
I did make refrigerator pickles out of them once....not to bad....

Try grilling a radish....Sounds crazy but it might surprise you....

Cook 1 and blend it into a pot of mashed potatoes. YUM! Raw with a bit of salt is good too.

I waited to long- wanting it to grow bigger- got all woody. Pick when tender.

I guess that is what I did last year. Woody is the word for it. So I didn't plant it this year. Guess I'll try again after reading this.

I like them raw with salt and also cut them in 1/4's smothered in butter, wrap them in foil and cook them like a baked potato.

Upside down they do look weird....more like a ET. Do you use the greens?.....Fred
