Hello,
I am new to this site, so forgive any rule violations, but:
I recently acquired a buck & ball with the gun makers inscription "L. Biles". I believe it was a flint, contemporary revision to a percussion.
(Askew & Paxson lock)probably made in the 1810-20's.

I am trying to find out more about L. Biles.

The musket is not a fine piece.
More likely it was an early example. but the curly maple stock is nice and the inlays were done with care. I am pleased to display it with my collection.

any help or information about L. Biles is appreciated.
