Here goes another Pecatonica River parts set. 3/4” ACF x 42” long barrel that’s supposed to be a Colerain. It has six square bottom grooves .012 deep with no markings. L&R Manton style lock and Davis DST’s and steel furniture.

Inletting the barrel four inches at a time.

Timed the breech plug and inlet the barrel and tang a couple days ago. Got the lock positioned and inlet with all its guts today.

So, a positive thing to be said for the quarantine! Your work looks very good to me, I really like that stain. I am looking forward to seeing it when you believe it is ready for showing as a finished rifle.
I have always been a .54 fan, but seeing your and Robby's rifle has me rethinking that. Must be a delight to carry.

Okay, I'm working on the same type rifle in 40 cal and with same lh Manton lockwhich has an angled bar that kicks out the rear plate. Did it bother you taking off so much wood to accommodate this lock. Well, its sure bothering me!

I’m trying to picture what part you’re referring to. Can you post a picture?

I meant that the bolster is thicker on the back than front and that angles the lockplate

Ok. Not as long as it pulled up tight to the barrel side. It is pretty dainty.

Nice to see this . . I hope to build a Southern Rifle this summer . .. Do not have blank or barrel, but have purchased the sights, butt plate and bean style trigger guard and trigger . . I too have a LH manton lock, which is why I liked seeing these pics.

It’s finished. The nose cap they sent was German silver but I decided to use it anyway, I cut a half inch off of it. Finish is BC tru-oil.
