Are you stuck on lace up slings?

If not, I have a simple sling that doesn't lace on and doesn't interfere with your current cheekpiece. It works well on any shape buttstock. It rolls up to about the size of a duck egg. The barrel end is similar to the 2nd picture by Big Tom. The stock end is very simple and unobtrusive.

It doesn't stay on the gun...it's used as needed taking seconds to install or remove. It could be made by anyone that can do some simple leather stitching...and only a very minimal amount.

I can take pictures and post if anyone is interested.
I'd be interested in seeing that sling Spike.

Indeed, I am interested.

Thank You.

A rib is a rib, but it was on a custom non-traditional halfstock rifle. After measuring the rib width, I bought the swivel and button from TOTW. Then I drilled a pilot hole in the rib so the swivel would hit the thimble. And opened it up with a bit sized for a snug fit for a screw that goes in the swivel. It isn't hard.

True, a rib is a rib. But some are made and attached to the rifle differently. Some come off and some do not, or at least I haven’t found a way on one of my ML’s.

No doubt it can be drilled and tapped on the rifle.

Thanks for the information.

No tapping. Just a snug fit for the screw to keep it from flopping. The swivel is the old style. I did it(carefully) on the rifle. Used a 1/16" to get the pilot hole. Go to Track and look for "Swivel-2-N".

Here are the pics. You could make the length anything you need.

This is it all rolled up...a big tame duck egg, or maybe goose egg sized bundle that easily goes in a pocket or pouch:

The barrel end is just a slit in the leather so you can make a loop.

I slide this down the barrel over a thimble and pull it tight. It won't interfere with the ramrod, and one can still see through all but the very lowest of rear sights.

The leather is quite thin:

The butt end is just another slit, but longer, with a loop of leather sewn across it. The slit is reinforced with stitching at the bottom end of it.

To install, simply slip over the butt. Keep in mind, this is meant to be a quick on/off sling, so only the weight/pressure of the gun is keeping this in place.

I actually purchased this one someplace, but the design is simple and easy for a DIYer. Lightweight and use-as-needed, then pocket it. Works on any buttstock.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for posting. That's a good simple design for beginners like me! 👍
