sight in clean barrel top then tree touching then moved sight to hit center

having gain twist hoyt barrels in 54(2 of them) and that while standing in Mr Hoyt's shop He told me that 70grns of 3swiss is what he uses and suggested to shoot round ball with a .020 patch

and low and behold IT WORKED. He suggested 80 grns of the same if using great plains conical ( his stated elk load)right from the makers mouth.
I now have 3 gain twist barrels from Mr Hoyt and I post what I found after long load work up and found it very repeatable after several range sessions only posting after 3 repeated results
now that is only a starting point you have to workup your load

load work up target the next time at the range confirmation target
my 50 gain likes 80 grns 3f

good solid bench, cushioned front rest, rifle butt supported on my left fist, good breath control , slow squeeze of the trigger
you change only one thing in the load at a time , and when you think have a load make sure it's repeatable ( I like 3 different range sessions , then move the sights to the load impact)

Bobby says gain shoots flatter and hits harder for the same load in a reg twist barrel. He's right my 50 is much flatter shooting at 100, dead on at 50 ,a little high 75 and less than 2 inches low 100( my other hoyt1-56 X2/,green mtn 1-72/ getz 1-72 are lower with the same loads at 100 )

62 I bet that's a thumper on the gong, Hoyt made himself one last year he shot it at frozen toe Union co. Muzzleloaders last yr
