Just go to your local sporting goods store and buy a box of the cheapest 12ga shells with #4 shot, cut the top off with a razor knife, and dump it out.

I thought of that but that’s not cheap cuz usually 4 shot is for turkey loads and they’re expensive

Sure. The copper is much softer than your barrel, and is cheaper than the nickle plated.

You can buy a box of 25 Federal shotshells #4s for 14.99 these are heavy hunting loads, not turkey loads.

There is right at 2 pounds of lead shot in a box of 25 rounds at 15 bucks a box that would be 75.00 for 10 pounds.
