I shoot 1 1/8oz of #6 on top of 70 grains 2fg through my smoothbore. My gun has no choke but at 25 yards my patterns are dense enough to kill birds. No donut holes or anything but I'm sure the pattern could be tighter. I use crumpled phone book paper for wadding and paper shot cups. Works good enough for me.
