Aren't these two locks interchangeable? I have already used the large Siler lock plate to inlet so I could get barrel inletted, but was wondering if the internals are the same on both so I could go ahead and finish inletting the complete Large Siler lock and just swap out when the Deluxe gets here. I would like to inlet trigger and get tang bolt down through trigger plate.

Thanks for any info..

Hoyt,

I swapped out a large Siler for a deluxe Siler in a rifle I made years ago. It was a drop in EXCEPT for the fact that the mainspring was beefier on the deluxe, therefore requiring a deeper inlet.

I'd also check the travel on the outside of the cock, since it's taller...you might need to relieve a little wood. Better to check then let the hammer drop the first time and find out the hard way!

Okay, thanks..Schimmelsmith..although it may now be a mute point as it looks like I will still be dealing with the buttplate from hell by the time the lock gets here next wk.

The differences between the two locks are the cock & the tumbler. All the other parts are the same including the mainspring.

Don't know what buttplate you are doing, but until you have inlet a Jaeger Acanthus Leaf buttplate, they are all just a warm ups to the real test........
