There was a time when I thought the hunting shows on the Outdoor Channel and such were fun to watch but they became more and more like infomercials pushing this product or that. Then they shifted from actual hunting to fake hunting out of $5K box blinds and bait piles.

Now you can watch actual hunting shows on you tube but you still have to shift through the slob hunting deer drives where they shoot through brush at anything running by and the same box blind, bait pile stuff.

There is good and bad in every genre, I lean toward traditional archery and side lock B/P stuff. If I see a box blind, bait, an inline or wheels on a bow I look for something else.

Especially that Cabela's show. Grates on my nerves....
I had to quit watching the hunting shows years ago.
My wife got tired of hearing me yell at the TV anyway
The “excessive jubilation,”jumping up and down, and high fives all around rubbed me the wrong way. Downing a fine animal is a nice, but at the same time solemn occasion that always made me respectfully a little sad at the same time.
But that’s just me.

@smoothshooter Agree, I was taught by my old dad to be respectful. If you dont feel something for the animal after harvesting it you are a cold hearted sob. Famously, Alfred Kroeber in his memoirs related an incident where Ishi reprimanded Saxton Pope for disrespectful celebratory behavior after killing a deer. At the same time, gratuitous faux "reverence" in some of those shows make me want to puke. There was an episode of "Hard Truths Of Conservation" where Dan Cabela shot a duiker, and they made sure they zoomed in on his face to show his dour sorrowful "respect" and then zoomed out while he stroked and petted the dead duiker - made me gag.
