How close to a French & Indian war era Killdeer rifle would you say the Kibler rifles designs are? Here is a photo of my Southern Mountian version and a photo of a Kibler made Colonial.

Here is Kiblers web site: For builders of contemporary flintlock long rifles

In one video jim kibler stated none if his rifles are true to any period, they're just his general take on stylings from those eras.

I read somewhere that when someone questioned Mann about the Killdeer rifle not being historically correct, he got the reply " I am making a film not a documentary "or somesuch .
If you have a copy of LOTM have a look at the ambush scene where the Indians are running out of the trees , then slow it down . all their firearms are bending back and forth because they are made of rubber to prevent injuries to all the actors .

Hello you got this English man interested as I love flint long rifles. I think guns just evolved by small gunsmiths getting British parts from trading posts Then nationality decided design the frontier man wanted a strong rifle not a delicate beautiful on then larger manufactures evolved then we have different people from the old world bring homeland styles with them. Some makers below were into percussion on a flintlock style. So I went through some American Bonhams auction catalogs all I know a frontier man would want a good rifle Films contain so much crap just entertainment The names below don’t even scratch at the surface with mountain men making and forging their guns and parts Remember the USA is a big big country not like little old England. Ha ha. I wish you well

Ps these three are London style made by me

so here we go American gun makers and styled

The movie is set in 1758 on the New York frontier. The rifle he is carrying is golden age Pennsylvania. In my opinion not even close to what he would have at that time and place.

I wanted to see the film again as I bought a £129 LED projector but seems I never recorded it but I think the sound is better than that acting Happy in this string , I know it’s the wrong string but my cat don’t cate I am making a .6 oval bore kind of Bess 1810 the original 1810. £240 lock was a bit corroded and needed a bit of work but now it’s working perfectly English flint sparks well collected and napped by me from chalk hills nearby Love this forum nice people I have met It’s cold here in England with snow in places Regards from London

yes what a waste! I guess that she didn't like indigenous people?
She liked one indigenous person(Uncas), and he got murdered by another(Magua) right in front of her. And he also murdered her father and tried to kill her sister.

Murder here being my word for what we do to each other in war.

It seems to me we can not rely on Television or Movies to faithfully follow the original book or be historically correct .eg: Peter Jackson turned The Hobbit , which was a small book written for children into 3 massive movies which were , In my opinion , were more like science fiction .
