An exquisite piece of wood that looks right at home on your fine rifle.

Being a retired railroader, I love the rear sight evolution.

A phaeton was a sporty horse drawn buggy, named for a god who drove the chariot of the Sun. Rifles like yours were called " buggy rifles". All of which you no doubt knew.

Well done! Thank you for sharing.

Incredible work. Is the barrel threaded in to the brass? I didn't see the taper pin that used seeing.
I didn’t describe the assembly right. The barrel and breech plug are secured with the nipple. The breech plug and receiver are secured with a round head screw. The barrel was c-bored and threaded up to a square shoulder. The breech plug screwed in and checked for a tight fit then both were drilled and tapped together. The brass receiver was also bored and threaded to a depth that I knew was a tad longer then the breech plug sticking out of the barrel. I assembled the barrel, plug and brass and checked for alignment between the flats of the barrel and brass. Only took a matter of thousands to trim off end of barrel to align flats. Then I drilled and tapped for the round head screw in the breech plug and brass. Hope this makes sense!
