SOLD Late English Matchlock Musket- $1300

Had this listed for a while until last week, and though I had it sold but seller backed out of the deal.
Here for sale is a late 17th century style (1680s and 1690s/William III era) reproduction matchlock musket. I think it began as a TRS kit, but with ramrod pipes added by the builder. Unsure of who built it, I got from an auction in Kansas. The pan is on the lockplate, as in the period gunsmiths were producing doglocks and flintlocks at the same time as these last matchlocks, in theory so that a new self igniting lock could be made and these guns easily converted. When I got it I had dreams of getting a doglock for it, but family bills come first so it's for sale.
It's a hoot to shoot! This musket has a .76 caliber 46 inch barrel that flares slightly at the muzzle. I've shot it with both ball (albeit undersized at .715) and shot loads. Weighs about 10 pounds, but is comfortable to shoot offhand or on a rest. It's at least more comfortable
than a Brown Bess. Length of pull is 14" Asking $1600 plus shipping. PM if interested.

Looks a nice gun if you keep 'bumping ' it will be just the cost of parts its easy for me to say" hang in there" but sometimes its better to go up than down, folks might think its at fault ,but its clearly a fine item .Best Wishes Rudyard

I have always wanted to hunt deer with one of these but don’t know how accurate one would be. Took a deer last year with a Brown Bess Carbine ad was keeping my range down to 40 yards. How long does a wick last when your sitting in a tree stand. This has always interested me

Well I hunted small game & large ,with matchlocks the smoke & smell are no detrement ,if it can smell the match it can smell you , I've never recoursed to sitting in a tree . But Ide carry the lit Match in my fingers as I held the Butt if not too heavy you can shoot flying birds like wood Pigeon over Decoys , Flighting , & Clays as you prefer .its just getting used to them. As to your how long Ide say depends on your amount of match but you can also recoures to a 'Pre 1840 High plains' Bic ( less fuss than a tinder box to re light your match cord )
